As a interesting aside I note how older road bikes, still broadly look like modern road bikes, and apparently the performance gap isn’t huge, compared
to MTB’s where at that point they where still essentially overbuilt road frames still, suspension forks where coming in.

And certainly for Down Hill racing, the bikes didn’t always last the run, without some mechanical and that was on the tracks they were using then,
    let alone now!

    Interesting. What impressed you most?

Regarding the Zanzotti video, I don't doubt he knows
something of modern aesthetic and design.

But in an engineering sense one reflects on Pauli, "That's
so bad it isn't even wrong."

Careful, that might not be a real bicycle. Offhand, it looks like
something created in a 3D design program, such as SolidWorks. If you
look carefully at the JPG, you might find some oddities. For example,
the rear brake isn't connected to the seat tube. The down tube
connection to the molded top "tube" shape thing is well hidden behind
the right handlebar. There are no manufacturer names on any of the
components except the blurs on the tires and right crank arm. Both
derailleur cables are lacking end caps. The "saddle" is
non-adjustable and looks like it would be painful to ride for more
than a short time. The rather wide fiberglass top tube looks like a
    candidate for air resistance.

But Mr Mantel actually saw the actual piece.

Long ago, when bicycle trade shows were interesting, such
art objects were common. Dysfunctional and/or impractical,
    but stunning.

He didn't specify that he saw the real bicycle. What he wrote was:

I've seen (electronics) trade shows where a few manufacturers featured
models of their upcoming products. It's safer to do that than to risk
exposure when a potential customer tries to apply power and causes it
to catch fire. It's much safe to show a non-functional model.

Nope, I never wrote, insinuated, made any suggestion, posted any
reference or link that would support your claim that I was capable of
such a feat. If you still think I did, post a reference that you think
    supports your claim.

I would NEVER have thought for one second that you would say that so the idea came directly from you.

It's entirely a figment of your imagination. You looked at something
that you thought was a 200 mile ride on my strava profile, then saw
something that said I maintained a 20 MPH average (which I've done
frequently), and your imagination did the rest.
