Names have followed trends (of a sort) for many decades now. Prudence
and Gladys *were* popular names many decades ago but were long ago
superseded by others. I still remember when nearly every female being
born was named Tiffany, Crystal or (I've forgotten the third of the Big
Three) back in the late 80s/early 90s. I put that 80s trend down to
people naming their girls after popular TV characters of the time. Older
naming trends are probably more down to people being named after popular
book characters, back in the days when a lot more people read and TV
    wasn't yet in existence.

Names have followed trends (of a sort) for many decades now. Prudence
and Gladys *were* popular names many decades ago but were long ago
superseded by others. I still remember when nearly every female being
born was named Tiffany, Crystal or (I've forgotten the third of the Big Three)

Almost certainly Madison (Maddie for short). Or was the more later 90s.

back in the late 80s/early 90s. I put that 80s trend down to
people naming their girls after popular TV characters of the time. Older naming trends are probably more down to people being named after popular
book characters, back in the days when a lot more people read and TV
    wasn't yet in existence.

I was Octomom: The Natalie Suleman Story      (movie)        (8 pm,
    Lifetime Channel)

"I Was Octomom" stars Kristen Lee Gutoskie (The Handmaid’s Tale, Chicago Fire) as Natalie Suleman; Caitlin Stryker (A Million Little Things) as
her best friend Beth; and Anita Wittenberg (Cruel Instruction) as her
mother Angela. Told from her perspective, the movie follows Suleman’s journey starting from her decision to have one more IVF procedure to
complete her then family of six, to becoming a mother of 14, having
survived her life being torn apart by the tabloid media.

    I already said I am passing on this one - it's a pro-Suleman fluff
piece, and Kristen Lee Gutoskie no longer looks as good as she once did
    (esp. playing Suleman!).

The Reluctant Royal       (movie)          (8 pm, Hallmark Channel)

Philly mechanic Johnny is surprised to learn that his long-lost father
is a duke. But the duke isn’t quite what he expected, nor are his
growing feelings for the duke’s advisor Prudence. Stars Andrew Walker
    and Emilie de Ravin.

I might have watched this, but I have a backlog of unwatched
Lifetime/LMN flicks that I've DVR'ed that I'd rather get to instead.

The Last Woman Who Lived Here      (movie)        (8 pm, Lifetime Channel)

Seeking a fresh start, Charlotte and her husband Joel pack up their
lives in the big city and head to the suburbs, where they find an
incredible deal on a beautiful home. Yet all is not what it seems. Their house is “the murder house,” and Charlotte soon finds clues left by the former resident before her murder, making her question which one of
their neighbors knew all along and has been covering it up. Tamara
Almeida, David Chinchilla, Cindy Sampson, and Morgan Kelly star.

I may or may not watch this "live" (I don't have to work on Monday,
which increases the odds that I'll watch it live) but I will certainly
    record it if I don't.

Dark Winds        (season 3 premiere)          (9 pm, AMC)

Eight episodes running through April 27; already renewed for season 4.

Another series I've never managed to get to, and Spectrum dragging its
feet on giving its subscribers AMC+ isn't helping.

The Righteous Gemstones       (final season 4 premiere)           (10
    pm, HBO)

Nine episodes running through May 4.

Nobody around here ever watched this, did they?...

The Electric State          (movie)         (3:01 am, Netflix)

In an alternate, dystopian version of 1990s America, Michelle (Millie
Bobby Brown), an orphaned teenager, navigates life in a society where sentient robots resembling cartoons and mascots, who once served

she had lost, Michelle sets out across the American southwest with
Cosmo, and soon finds herself reluctantly joining forces with Keats

I don't see her as a Prudence. Not sure I see anybody born in the last

Yeah, notice you never see any babies named Gladys, either.

One of the funniest moments of my life was when my granddaughter was
born and they named her Charlotte Victoria. I said to my daughter in
law "I didn't know you two were such royalists" (Charlotte is the name
of Will + Kate's daughter as well as the name of several British
queens) only to hear "Oh we're not - we just liked the name...."

Which surprised me since our family has tended to follow the tradition
that first born sons are named either for their father or grandfathers
    - thus I bear my father's name with my maternal grandfather's name as
my middle name. My son was named for my wife's uncle (who was her
godfather) and my name though when he was 3 or 4 days old I went to
see my grandfather and told my wife that I wanted to add his name as
well "because I saw the condition Grandad's in and giving Johnny his
name would be all he'll ever have of him given what I saw today"

But you're definitely right about Gladys.

(One thing I didn't learn until AFTER I was married was that both my
wife and mother were named after aunts who died before reaching
    adulthood - now THAT's unusual!)

We named our daughters (1) for my mother in law's name followed by my

major quarrel over the fact that she put it on the birth certificate
as Elisabeth which was her maternal grandmother's name as opposed to
my mother's) and (2) for my mother's maiden name (which was one that
worked as a good first name.

Our son got named for her uncle/godfather, my middle name and at the
last moment added a second middle name (my grandfather's middle name
which was the one he went by) since as I told my wife "because I just
came from the hospital and Grandad has taken a big turn for the worse
and as a result won't live long enough for our little guy to remember
him" - which my eldest does) - and the combo happened to be my
mother's paternal grandfather's name (different surname) who commanded
a ship (Royal Navy) in WW1 and died when my mother was in childhood.
We have his picture in our hallway just outside the dining room.

I have a friend who was my mother's first cousin who I told her my
son's full name and she instantly picked up on what the combination
signified and was pleased when I explained to her who each name
honored and that we very much knew what the full combination of names
    meant.

At this point I haven't decided whether to will my grandfather's sea
captain papers to my son or my nephew since it's got an original
signature by C D Howe (Rhino will remember that name). Normally I'd
give it to my son without thought but my nephew is a certified tugboat
captain and has the modern version of that document.
