    My favourite example of the 'sponsor's message' was watching The Johnny
    Carson Show in America, and seeing Johnny reach behind him to pick up
    a pack of Corn Flakes and display it on his desk as the sponsor
    of the show. Cringe.
    It was like watching some children's show, it was so blatant.

    Well some must as on the AD track on some channels you hear, end of part x andyest often no start announcement. On many of the streaming channels like
    the Samsung ones you seem to just get a sudden chop out and back. I suppose
    its just a timer.
    Incidentally, how do the channels supplied by Samsung TV fund themselves?
    They all have ad breaks, but many are containing one advert, or maybe a couple, the rest is a padded out caption of some sort with a loop of music. Also, all channels are now getting unwatchable due to the numbers and frequencies of add breaks in them, its almost impossible to follow them.
    That variable spacing should never have been allowed by Offcom.

    It did not end so much as fade away. I think it happened when you were
    allowed to have loads more breaks per hour and most sandwiched into the last third of the show.

    So could we come up with some likely sponsors for certain films or shows?
    Maybe the next time 50 shades of Grey comes on it will be sponsored by a
    rope maker or gorilla tape or love honey. Then we could have was films sponsored by the armed forces, or crime dramas sponsored by anti theft
    device makers?

    The funniest is the way Formula 1 drivers have to keep changing their
    baseball cap depending on which sponsor is paying them for whatever they
    are doing.

    One of my memories of 'sponsor's message' was when I worked for ATV at our
    Wood Green Empire TV Theatre and we recorded a London segment for an
    American talk show (can't remember which one from about 1962) which had an
    'in show announcer' which was Shaw Taylor of Police Five fame. He was
    required to say 'and now for a word from our sponsor' which happened to be
    a flooring manufacturer called Sandran and he had to say something like
    'Please contact your local Sandran franchise merchandiser'. He rehearsed
    it several times then screwed it up on the take!
