There's no point posting endless links to things behind paywalls.
The P&J is not behind a paywall
If I click on the link you provided, the top half of the screen goes
dark, and the bottom half carries a bright yellow banner telling me I
must either log in or subscribe in order to read the article.
Looks a lot like a paywall to me.
The West Coast paper gives a brief preview outside the paywall.
Two lines of text as a caption to the image, and a banner telling me I

Also looks like a paywall to me.
The issue at Oban FM seems to be one of funding, with zero technical
content, so the matter is off-topic here anyway.
Well funding pays for the transmitters equipment etc so perhaps it is
relevant.
Having been involved with a community grade service and seen others what
many fail to realise it that they are small bushiness.
Many involved in such activities just want to play bangin tuoones mainly
for their mates. I've been in lots of management station meets in the
past the poor treasurer gets, or did get short shrift, and the mere
mention of anyone selling, yes selling, advertising was looked at as if
they were from another galaxy!. They thought that advertisers would
flock to them and seemed amazed that they didn't you have to sell
advertising and finding good sales staff;?..
So it goes and when the original grant runs out then the music stops.
Hardly anyone wants to do the books, the VAT return, get the rent money
in the rent pay for the TX services rates etc..
H No I'm not paying to look behind the firewall and i expect that there
are people in the station who do make a decent contribution to their
locality music isn't the be all and end all..
