• Dr Who

    Picked this up from US:
To me, nothing will ever reach the quality of the Tom Baker episodes. He was wonderful, but the real key was
it had Douglas Adams as one of the writers. Douglas Adams is the writer of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the
Galaxy, and also Dirk Gently, Holistic Detective, both wonderful books I highly recommend. These episodes
had great characters and great story lines, with a lot of good English tongue-in-cheek humor. But these stories
had gravitas and depth. These new episodes were just silly.

    Very disappointing so far.

One final note. Doctor Who is rebranding this season as Season 1 (I guess because it's the first with Disney).
But if you count 2005 as Season 1 (which everyone else is still doing), then this is really Season 14.

We should really count 1963 as Season 1.
What number would that give us I wonder?

    Rod.

    Yes, I agree.

Yes, I watched that first episode as did my wife as young children.
We watched every episode when it was on for decades. There were some
excellent stories when it was revived and Rose was the companion.

The weeping angels on their first appearance was a great story (Blink
    S3-E10).

But the Peter Capaldi series was the last series even watchable.
After that Dr. Who became indoctrination not entertainment. A
propaganda piece for Woke, PC nonsense, spreading the mental illness
    and trying to normalising it.

There was one stand out episode of the Capaldi series, an episode
called "Listen" S8-E4. Clever story, quite scary and some powerful
emotion too. Plus it had Jenna Coleman as Clara in it - bonus. I
would recommend this one to any Dr, Who fan who's not seen it.

    Bob.

Those of us who remember the original versions tend to remember by the
    actor, not the season.

We are currently on Doctor number 14, highlights for me were Tom Baker
    and Christopher Eccleston.

    Pertwee and Baker for me.

I've not watched any of the Dr Whos that have been produced this century.

Overproduced is probably the kindest this I can say about them

The 60s/70s/80s series were just a good 'Sci-Fi Romp' with no pretence.

It can only be a matter of time before the series is abandoned with the
    way viewing figures are dropping.

Usual case of GO WOKE, GO BROKE.

Very much in agreement with you. I've tried to watch the more recent
series more out of habit and hope but I can't even watch the trailers
for the current series let alone watch an episode. Sad really as I
was there when it all started.

Not sure how accurate https://guide.doctorwhonews.net/info.php is for
viewing figures but I can't see too many more episodes. A shame after
    a successful revival.
