Ten more drivers have been banned from driving with one just avoiding prison, after they appeared at Leamington Magistrates Court on Friday 2 February charged with drink driving related offences.

The other nine went to prison, did they?

Forty-six year old Nnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxxx Xxxxxx, Pppppp blew four times over the legal limit of 35 micrograms, having 141 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath after he was arrested at 20.50hours on 20 December on Woodloes Avenue
    South.
A member of the public called police because they were concerned a driver they had seen may be drunk or unwell. Fortunately officers were in the immediate area and stopped Nnnnn Nnnnnn who failed a roadside breath test.
After appearing in court, he was sentenced to 8 week’s imprisonment, suspended for 12 months with a 20 day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement. He was also disqualified from driving for 34 months and ordered to pay £135 costs and £154 victim
    surcharge.

    He didn't go to prison.

The court considered the offence so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified because of the high alcohol reading and manner of the driving. However, the custodial sentence was suspended because he was considered of good character and
there is a reasonable prospect of rehabilitation.

The following drivers have also been disqualified:-

Twenty-seven year old Nnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp has been banned from driving for 42 months and sentenced to a Community Order requiring him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid supervised work within the next 12 months. He has also
been ordered to pay £135 costs and £114 victim surcharge. He was arrested at 21.10hours on 17 December on Billesley Road, Aston Cantlow after officers were called to reports of a vehicle in a ditch at the location. Police arrived to find a car in the
hedge with Nnnnn in the driver’s seat. He confirmed he was the driver and that he’d been drinking. He smelt of intoxicating liquor and was unsteady on his feet. He refused to provide a roadside breath test and was later charged with Failing to
    provide a specimen for analysis.
Eighty year old Nnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp has been disqualified from driving for 18 months. She was also fined £180 and ordered to pay £135 costs and £72 victim surcharge. She was arrested at 22.48hours on 17 December when
police were called to a single vehicle collision on Hinckley Road, Nuneaton where she had driven into a barrier. She failed to provide a breath test and was arrested and later charged.
Twenty-three year old Nnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp was disqualified from driving for 16 months for drink driving. He was also fined £438 and ordered to pay £135 costs and £175 Victim Surcharge. He was arrested after he failed a
roadside breath test when police were called to a single vehicle collision in Pppppppppp.
Thirty-six year old Nnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £230 and ordered to pay £135 costs and £92 victim surcharge for Failing to provide a Specimen for Analysis. He was arrested at 18.40hours
on 15 December when police were called to a damage only collision on Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx in the town involving him riding a moped. After officers arrived they requested a roadside breath test and after four failed attempts where officers believe he was not
blowing into the tube, he was arrested and later charged.
Sixty-eight year old Nnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £480 and ordered to pay £135 costs and £192 victim surcharge after appearing in court charged with drink driving and driving without
insurance. He was arrested at 00.39hours on 17 December after a member of the public rang police to report a suspected drink driver.
Thirty-nine year oldNnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp was disqualified from driving for 20 months and fined £450 for drink driving. He was also ordered to pay £135 costs and £180 victim surcharge after appearing in court charged with
drink driving. He was arrested at 04.47hours on 16 December on Xxxxxxx, Ppppp when officers observed his manner of driving and followed his vehicle. He was stopped by officers and asked to provide a roadside breath test which he failed.
Forty-five year old Wojciech JASIELSKI from Nuneaton Road, Bedworth was disqualified from driving for 24 months and fined £276. He was also ordered to pay £135 costs and £110 victim surcharge after appearing in court charged with drink driving.
He was arrested at 20.45hours on 16 December after he was identified as the driver of a car involved in a collision. He failed a roadside breath test and was later charged.
Twenty-seven year old Nnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp was fined £800 and banned from driving for 21 months. He was also ordered to pay £135 costs and £320 victim surcharge after appearing in court charged with drink driving. He was
arrested at 00.20hours on 17 December on Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp after he pulled out in front of an unmarked police car. Officers stopped his car due to a moving traffic offence and he failed a roadside breath test.
Thirty-two year old Nnnnn Nnnnnn from Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp was banned from driving for 14 months and fined £120 after appearing at court charged with drink driving. He was also ordered to pay £135 costs and £48 victim surcharge. He was
arrested at 00.40hours on 21 December on Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Pppppppp after officers stopped his vehicle and he ran off from officers who followed him and he was detained nearby. Officers suspected he had been drinking and requested a roadside breath test.
He failed and was later charged with drink driving.

So none of those went to prison either.

But you said (and I quote):

"Ten more drivers have been banned from driving with one just avoiding
    prison"

    But they *all* avoided prison.

With the exception of Nnnnn Nnnnnn and Nnnnn Nnnnnn, the above drivers have the opportunity to reduce their period of disqualification by a quarter if they satisfactorily complete an approved driving rehabilitation course. Guilty pleas were taken into
consideration for all those sentenced and they will also have their driving records endorsed.
Sergeant Simon Dalby said “These drivers are finding out the hard way that drinking and driving has huge consequences for them, their partners and families. Drink driving is a serious offence and their sentence means they have a criminal record
affecting job prospects and where they can go on holiday as they will not be able to travel to some countries. They will need to walk, cycle, use public transport or get a lift to go anywhere for the foreseeable future.
“Drink driving doesn’t just happen at Christmas and our officers will continue to target drink and drug drivers throughout the year to remove them from the roads to make our roads safer for everyone.”

Riding a chav-bike while drunk (a feat boasted of by May Sun in the
past) is also a serious offence.
