A post appears in my feed, this time not from "S Mason" but from "Simon
Mason", posted at 19:15 on Sunday 3rd December.

    The Title is:

"Re: Mercedes van driver jailed for killing schoolgirl Lexi McDavid who
was getting off a bus in Huyton, Merseyside"

There is no post behind the title. Only the following message:

    QUOTE:
    (I) Article not found

The newsgroup server reports that it can't find the article.

Newsgroup server responded: Bad article number
    Perhaps the article has expired?
    Try searching for article: <[email protected]> (962277)
    ENDQUOTE

There is also a button marked "Remove All Bad Posts".

There’s no such message with that date and time showing up here.

I wonder if NIN is performing a two-stage approach, the first one removes
the message body, the second then removes the message entirely in a
separate purge. I may have downloaded the group after you did, so I missed
    the one that you saw.

Google Groups is unhelpful in that one can’t see message headers.

    Oh…so tempting…:-)
