A TEEN driver has been arrested after an Audi crashed on a busy roundabout this morning.

Police officers were called to Hilden Island at 8.47am this morning, Friday, following reports of a collision.

A caller reported that a white Audi had collided with the roundabout and the driver had ran from the scene on foot.

One police helicopter was dispatched to search the area and locate the driver, a 19-year-old male.

He was eventually found on Mawgan Court.

Destruction left from the scene of the incident included a bent sign post and clear track marks imprinted onto the roundabout.

The 19-year-old, from Warrington, was checked by paramedics and has since been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taking a vehicle without consent.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: “At 8.47am on Friday 17 November police were called to a collision on Hilden Street, Warrington.

“The caller reported that a white Audi had collided with the roundabout and the driver had fled the scene on foot.

“Officers attended, supported by the police helicopter, and following a search of the area a man was located on Mawgan Court.

“The 19-year-old from Warrington was checked by paramedics and has since been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taking a vehicle without consent.”

    "Because motorists".
There's loads of instances of drivers binning their cars everyday, but no-one's bothered about it as there weren't cyclists involved.

A lot of resources for a potentially quite minor incident.

OK, TWOCing (and consequent uninsured driving) is serious enough to
warrant a strenuous detection attempt. And that's without the blood
    alcohol offence.

[* "the driver had run" is the correct pluperfect third person singular
form of the verb "to run". Use of the word "ran" in that construction
would be a faux-pas, as you well know, M'Lud.]

[Sorry for the four-syllable word some way above.]
