  • 2m rig as IF for microwave?

    I'm out of touch and someone returning to radio hammery
    has asked me for a suitable 2m rig to be an IF
    for microwaves?

    Any ideas, please, guys?

    I used an FT290 with an SG Labs 23cm transverter for a while. It
    supplies 12V for PTT purposes. I currently use it for an IF on 3cm. I
    built an IC202 lookalike for a 3cm-2m about 40 years ago. IF . the IC202
    was quite popular for this at one time.

    Others use an FT917 , which also does a 432MHz IF as well as shortwave
    and other VHF bands. FT818 is the up-to-date version.

    The most honest thing you could do would be to advise the enquirer that
    they would be much better off asking someone who might have a fucking
    clue.
