  • Transluscent film on glass window

    I want to cover the clear glass panel on a plastic door with 'frosted'
    plastic sheet.
    I know I can buy rolls of the stuff, but is there a knack to fitting it
    without bubbles and with sharp edges?

    I presume wash the glass thoroughly, leave it wet so the film can slip
    and slide, push the bubbles out with a squeegee (or credit card)

    Pretty much, it's been a while but this guide says you wet the film too
    (after removing the backing sheet!):

    I've always cut it precisely to size first, scalpel and steel rule on a
    cutting board for super straight edges. Starting at one side (or the
    bottom) for alignment it's relatively easy to squeegee out the bubbles as
    you go. Mess it up and you can always peel, re-wet if required and try
    again.

    Wet the glass with a detergent/water mix, place sticky film on it. The film will
    slide a bit, get two edges lined up right. Cut the other two edges with the film
    stuck to the glass, Straightedge or press into the bead and cut. Squeegee the detergent/water mix out from under the film. This will remove most large bubbles, small bubbles will disappear after day or two.

    I think the trick is to get "static cling film" -- I did and the above is a summary of the directions on the film!
