Hi All
I went to my first Car Boot Sale of the year today, and splashed
out on an Evolution Rage Circular Saw. I don't use many power tools but
have a potential use for this coming up.
I know of these from a little while ago ... and noted that this example
seems to be a 'Rage-B' or 'Rage-1B' variant.
I'm curious re. the differences between the 'original' model and this
'-B' one, but can't find much information. Does anyone have any knowledge? >>
Thanks

Nowt to do with your query but I would never buy a power tool at a boot
sale unless the seller had some provenance such as they were an individual selling a deceased parents belongings.
Too often you see a stall from a regular seller doing it for a living who
has several items and there is a fair chance many have been stolen from
some poor sod whose van has been ripped open who not only has the cost of replacing tools but vehicle repairs costing 1000’s and loss of earnings till they can get working again, and it has become so common that is
becoming difficult to get insurance that isn’t itself is a crippling burden.

FWIW (a) I almost never buy power tools at a car boot sale, partly for
the reason you mention and also for general lack of information about
how the tool has been looked after etc. There was good reason to be
happy in this case.
(b) I asked Evolution Power Tools who (perhaps surprisingly) got back to
me on this; they said that the -B variant was made in a different
factory but basically had the same spec. Maybe a few cost-cutting
differences ... but I haven't seen any
Oh, I also notice that with the move to cordless in the trade there are
a fair few corded power tools coming up cheap...
