nope. the user is extremely relevant, and the sole cause of the

    No PROBLEMS have been encountered.

Observations have been made, which nobody can explain.

Bull. Glasser reproduced it the way I said

How can you get things so topsy-turvy?

    Snit has no idea either.

That's false, aside from an 'accepted invite' (a process that is visible >>> and requires interaction), Glasser knows of three ways it can happen,
    ask him.

I have been discussing this with Snit in Messages. He does NOT know how
    it can have happened.

Carroll's need to speak for me is just... weird. Bizarre.

    Indeed.

*HOW* did the video files by Leonard O. get into my iCloud Drive?

    Surely SOMEBODY knows!

Read the post I just wrote to FTR (it was actually written for you).

    Weird game playing here.

You warned me what he's like. He's sad. :-(

I read EVERY post in this group. What you wrote doesn't make sense.

When reading the 'rec.photo.digital' Usenet newsgroup I clicked on links
posted by Savageduck and watched his videos - made with a drone.

That likely has nothing to do with the files in your iCloud drive.

    Please pay attention!!!!

The 'Leonard' links which were in my iCloud Drive WERE those very same
videos as those links posted in 'rec.photo.digital' depicted.
I actually tried them and they 'worked'!

I DID NOT move the videos onto my iCloud Drive.

I have no idea how they got there.

They are not there now. (after wiping and reinstallation of macOS)

Wiping and reinstalling does not clear the iCloud drive.

    I KNOW THAT! :-P I deleted the Clapper-Board images/videos

What this is all about is that NOBODY can yet re-enact the scenario.

Click on one of Savageduck's links in rec.photo.digital and then get it
to show up in one's iCloud Drive!

(Not just you - anyone! https://jumpshare.com/v/9R5AViTt2Hsknz21o5uD)

This exercise is like asking someone to explain how my keys got onto my nightstand when I could swear I put them on my dresser. Either I did it or it will likely never be explained -- not without more information.

You click on one of Savageduck's links - then put that link in your
    iCloud Drive.

    *Can you do that*?

    I cannot.

I can download the file to my iCloud drive... but it is not going to be automated. The two are not directly related.

If you look at iCloud.com you, I think, will see the clapperboard icon -- very much like what you saw in your other image. I have speculated that older version of macOS showed that icon in the Finder but they have improved things since then.

I'll show you what I see in my iCloud Drive in my next post!

Do note, though, that there is an IMAGE of Morro bay video *NOT* a
    clapper-board icon ...

    Nor any mention of Leonard!

If you look at iCloud.com you, I think, will see the clapperboard icon -- very
much like what you saw in your other image. I have speculated that older
version of macOS showed that icon in the Finder but they have improved things
    since then.

Aha. The "real" icons show up on iCloud... just takes a bit of time.

I do not think this used to be the case, even recently. Maybe I am wrong.

Seems we are going around and around with this... I do not even know what the question is any more. You had some files on your iCloud drive you are not sure how they got there, and we do not have enough info to speculate much further.

Yes, and sometimes they don't say what you think they do.

I just signed in to iCloud and then clicked SD's link in the GG NNTP
portal. It played without the dialog about signing in *or* downloading.
It didn't show up on my iCloud Drive, but I noticed something. It said something in settings (local storage optimization?)about things would
be stored locally until it is determned to be low on space if a certain
setting was set. A large file might not go to iCloud Drive 'this time'
if you had recently cleared and reset the OS 'again' as BD is prone to
do. Not reproducible might be a red herring here.

Anyway, I don't see the big deal. I'm sure it didn't get there 'shared'
without his credentials, at least in part.

This exercise is like asking someone to explain how my keys got onto >>>>>>>>>> my nightstand when I could swear I put them on my dresser. Either I >>>>>>>>>> did it or it will likely never be explained -- not without more >>>>>>>>>> information.

No, it is NOT like that at all!

Forget the past for a bit.

Hi. Nice to meet you. :)

    Well .... Hi! :-D

You click on one of Savageduck's links - then put that link in your >>>>>>>>> iCloud Drive.

    *Can you do that*?

    I cannot.

I can download the file to my iCloud drive... but it is not going to be
automated. The two are not directly related.

    *HOW can you do that?

Right click the video: Download Video As...

    You can pick a spot.

Good Golly, Miss Molly! :-D So I can!

    THANK YOU!

    You are welcome.

    ?

What I did was download to my Downloads folder. Once I had it there, I >>>>>>> simply dragged it onto my iCloud Drive.

    That works, too.

    It does!

But no mention anywhere of Leonard! And no clapper-board icon!

This whole scenario isn't important - but there MUST be a reason hidden >>>>> somewhere!

We do not have enough information. Most likely scenario is you put it
there, but you say you did not. After that there is no real place to go. >>>> All very broad speculation.

Anything is possible. Savageduck (Leonard O) did once share emails with
me and shared images from Dropbox. He's a retired police detective and I >>> do not suspect him of doing anything inappropriate or untoward.

My guess -- and it just that, a guess -- he shared a link and you clicked it >> and did not think of the dialogs.

Yes, and sometimes they don't say what you think they do.

I just signed in to iCloud and then clicked SD's link in the GG NNTP
portal. It played without the dialog about signing in *or* downloading.
It didn't show up on my iCloud Drive, but I noticed something. It said something in settings (local storage optimization?)about things would
be stored locally until it is determned to be low on space if a certain setting was set. A large file might not go to iCloud Drive 'this time'
if you had recently cleared and reset the OS 'again' as BD is prone to
do. Not reproducible might be a red herring here.

I cannot imagine it would to your iCloud drive without a notification of some sort.

Anyway, I don't see the big deal. I'm sure it didn't get there 'shared' without his credentials, at least in part.

    Agreed.
