Well this should be amusing ...

Trying to prep a 2012 Mini for sale. It's got the original 512GB HD and the second drive position is now a 256GB SSD. Both drives now APFS, with Mojave installed. After booting with cmd-R, I tried to erase both drives, with the security setting that writes random data and then zeroes. It formatted each drive but didn't bother to do the data overwrite I'd requested, so I powered off and tried cmd-R again. This time I got the spinning globe, and after some amount of time I get to select Disk Utility. But this seems to be the
Mavericks version, which takes one look at the drive combo and says - ah, obviously a fusion drive, so I'll merge the two disks.
So now I'm zeroing a drive of 742GB capacity. I'll try opt-cmd-R and see if I can install a later version again.
