• Screen brightness changing

    From Martin S Taylor@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jul 8 13:56:08 2022
    Hi:

The brightness on my iMac Pro keeps changing. Not by much, and it never
becomes too dark or too bright, but the change is noticeable enough to be distracting.

It's never done this before. Sure, it's changed the brightness gradually through the day as evening draws on, but these sudden changes are quite new.

    Any got any thoughts?

Try starting your computer in Safe Boot mode, procedure here:-

    https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh21245/mac

If, on restarting in normal mode, the problem persists, it is probably a hardware problem which won't get better on its own.

    Good luck!

I have seen that disabled but still doing it, so worth ticking and
    unticking the box.

Fairly sure only on beta OS releases, but it's a bit of an endemic issue
with settings. I got quite snippy about it in my last bug report of one
of those - one of easily a dozen I've made on the topic.

I've had similar brightness behaviour with my M1 MBP, so I've now unticked, ticked and unticked the automatic brightness option and let's see what happens.

Yes, that seems to have worked for me :)

Irritating, isn't it? Glad it helped!
