  • End of Intel macOS

    MacOS 26 Tahoe will be the last macOS supporting Intel CPUs: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/06/apple-details-the-end-of-intel-mac-support-and-a-phaseout-for-rosetta-2/

    It only supports four Macs from 2019 and 2020 - the 2019 Mac Pro, the 2020
    13" MBP with 4 Thunderbolt ports, the 2019 16" MBP Pro and the 2020 5K iMac.

    Then there's security updates until autumn 2028, and that's it.

    Rosetta is also being phased out apart from use in games (and maybe in virtualisation with the new compartmentalisation framework).

    I think my MBP Intel will still go. She just won't get "updates and
    security fixes", right?

    But does that mean that the machine will stop nagging me to do
    updates? I'd rather like that. :)

    Thanks for the heads-up. Suppose I'll have to start looking for
    replacement mail/usenet client(s). Still, a couple of years...
