• Apple Music subscriptions

From Chris Ridd@21:1/5 to All on Mon May 5 10:43:10 2025
Apple seems to make it incredibly difficult to renew a family Apple
    Music sub.

My son is subscribed to AM using my payment details, and everyone else
gets access to it. That's a bit messy, so we wanted to migrate the
    subscription over to me.

That's not apparently possible, my son has to stop the subscription and
then I have to start it again. Okaaay, except there's no way to do that seamlessly: I cannot start a subscription while another one is active. Apparently things like playlists disappear when a subscription lapses,
    so yay data loss.

There's a certain amount of facepalming going on.

    Tips or tricks welcome!

I don't believe this is the case. I specifically grabbed a free month of
Apple Music in order to dump a playlist from Spotify to Apple for a
friend, and despite that lapsing almost a year ago the playlist still
    exists in some nebulous manner.

I can't do anything with it, but the URL still works - see if it's valid
    for you?

If that's okay, then your lad can share playlists, note the URLs, and
you can add them back to your account that way. Clumsy but functional.

    Cheers - Jaimie

That still works, so yay (in spatial Apple Lossless).

I've got him to export his playlists from his Mac, so if it all goes
pear shaped he can import them again.

Things seemed to work out. One subscription lapsed, and a new one
    created. Barely a blip.
