This morning while checking my Mail it occurred to me that my M1 Powerbook is the first actual new Mac that I've purchased since 1993...
Prior to that I was fortunate enough to have been supplied my Apple products by my workplace - after we abandoned M$ products in 1986 - and all the others I've had prior to my present machine were either re-furbs or second hand. Following on from that and remembering the grief that I experienced with those
older machines I tried to recall all the problems I've had with my present machine and there were in fact two occasions since it's purchase when it's needed restarting, once it did this unasked and once I had to click Okay.
A testament, IMHO, to the progress that has been made in making things more reliable.
Also, I can't think of a single reason, at present at least, why I would ever need to upgrade. It does everything that I want for my present needs and, barring a dramatic change in the operating system which would bloat the system
- I've only got a 32Gb with 1Tb HD - it covers all requirements quite nicely. What a difference to the MacPlus, floppy discs and a Rodime 20Mb hard drive...
Well done Apple!
Yeah I feel much the same about my M1 MBP. The only issues such as having
to suffer crashes or force restarts or shutdown due to, say, system freezes have been when using beta versions of macOS.
