I vaguely remember doing this in Ventura and there is a folder called Screenshots but if it screenshots ever went there automatically they don’t now.

On right clicking the screenshot icon that immediately appears on the
Desktop I see options to save to Desktop, Documents, Clipboard plus open in mail, preview, photos plus show in finder, delete, markup , close.

    From Apple Support ....

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/102646

By default, screenshots and screen recordings save to your desktop with the name ”Screen Shot [date] at [time].png” or “Screen Recording [date] at [time].mov.” Or you can drag the thumbnail that appears in the corner of your screen, then drop it in another location.
If you can’t find the screenshot or screen recording on your desktop, it might
help to view your desktop in a Finder window. From the menu bar in the Finder, choose Go >Desktop, or click Desktop in the sidebar of any Finder window.

I think it may depend on what type of keyboard you have and maybe macos version. I'm using an M1 MBP running Sequoia with integral KB & touchbar. Various other save options don't seem to be available.

OK if I drag and hover the screenshot icon over my Macintosh HD icon the
latter opens up and I can continue this process by hovering progressively over folder icons until I find a suitable folder to save to screenshot to. This hovering technique goes back years!
