Is it possible to direct a screenshot to a folder rather than to the
Desktop in Sequoia?
I vaguely remember doing this in Ventura and there is a folder called Screenshots but if it screenshots ever went there automatically they don’t now.

On right clicking the screenshot icon that immediately appears on the
Desktop I see options to save to Desktop, Documents, Clipboard plus open
in mail, preview, photos plus show in finder, delete, markup , close.

Here, Screenshot opens a menu bar offering an 'options' option from which
one can choose where to save to.
I think it may depend on what type of keyboard you have and maybe macos version. I'm using an M1 MBP running Sequoia with integral KB & touchbar. Various other save options don't seem to be available.
OK if I drag and hover the screenshot icon over my Macintosh HD icon the latter opens up and I can continue this process by hovering progressively over
folder icons until I find a suitable folder to save to screenshot to. This hovering technique goes back years!

Also some of the commands shown in this support article don’t seem to work as expected on my system.

I would have thought it's just an app, and works reasonably consistently whatever the hardware. Do you not see something like this (scroll down abit for the Mac desktop image):

Press Cmd + Shift + 5. You'll see a menu bar pop up somewhere. Click on
the "Options" drop-down. Find the "Save to" section. Select "Other Location..."

Not initially but then I restarted my MBP and, yes, I see that now. Strange - I guess I must have messed things up when experimenting with various key combos earlier. I'm glad to see there is an other location option too. More importanly has John H made any progress despite my unintentional attempts to confuse the issue!!!

Bingo! Exactly what I wanted. You only seem to get this with <command><shift>5. 3 and 4 do not show it.
The previous setting must have been lost when I did a major rebuild a
month ago to clear out a load of junk in my Libraries.
Thank you.
