(I nearly labelled this 'OT' but don't think it is really - YMMV.)

I came across this yesterday in the context of Linux desktops, and took a while to realise it's an open-source fork of BeOS.

There was a LOT of coverage of BeOS at the point when it looked like a strong contender for Apple's next OS.

Anyway, anyone tried it? Mainly runs on x86 I think, so might be something to try on an older Mac??

(I still have my original BeOS CD somewhere, though didn't have a suitable machine to try it on at the time.)

I've created a VM via VMware Fusion on my Intel Mac and am replying with Newsgrouper using the browser app. Interesting .... I've never use BeOS
    before!

Now that's an idea - might give it a go on the old Intel mini.

Why? It's deader than a doornail. (some hobbyists excepted)

Jean-Louis Gasse killed BeOS with his brilliant negotiation tactics.
    (with an Apple in trouble)
"I've got them by the balls, and I'll squeeze till it hurts"
    was his idea of it.

After long and fruitless negotiations about BeOS
Apple rediscovered Jobs again, found him quite reasonable,
and with a vision for the future, so they agreed rapidly.
The rest is history, as they say,
