    Siri is all turned off, allegedly.

    Do you by any chance have another Mac where it isn't turned off, with
    which you are sharing a calendar and mail?

    Is there some way to prevent Siri from helpfully adding events to the calendar?

    In Calendar itself, your Calendar list should contain an entry “Siri Suggestions”. Untick that entry - no more Siri suggestions visible.
    Have discovered another way (macOS 15.1):

    Apple->System Settings->”Apple Intelligence and Siri”->”About Siri, Dictation & Privacy...”->Calendar.app on the left-hand side->”Show Siri suggestions in application”.

    "It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a
    disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying Beware of the Leopard.” <https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/10143264-oh-yes-well-as-soon-as-i-heard-i- went>
