• Sequoia: High CPU Use

From RJH@21:1/5 to All on Sat Oct 5 22:24:35 2024
The fans on my iMac (Intel 2020) have started kicking in since I updated the
OS to Sequoia 15.0.1. Hardly ever heard them before.

Two processes are constantly using 85/70% respectively of the 400% CPU - WallpaperVideoExtension and VTDecoderXPCService. Wallpaper is a static image and I don't have any screensavers etc. The CPU use of these processes remains constant, whichever apps are running.

    Any idea what's going on?!

    Cheers, Rob, Sheffield UK

    Hello Rob

Sorry to learn of your dilema. May I suggest that you start your
computer in Safe Boot Mode and then restart normally.

    This is the procedure:- https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh21245/mac

    I hope it helps.

    Good luck! 🙂

The procedure doesn't always work first time!

Do make sure you see "Safe Boot" in red in the top right hand corner of
    your screen. https://i.ibb.co/n8hXvYT/IMG-0169.jpg
