Just saw the above. Very nice! Smaller, lighter, foldable prongs...

Could I use it with my older MagSafe2 MacBook Air using a USB-C to

Looks like it would fit into my 2017 MBA charge socket.

Yes, mine is a 2017 MBA as well. It’ll fit… but the question is, will it work? :)

Yes that's the £5.96 plus p&p question! You might be able to return it to the seller for a refund if it doesn't. Could check with Anker I guess?

I know that! I mean the link doesn't appear to mention Anker.

No, the link is for the adapter (although I’ve just ordered a USB-C to MagSafe2 cable off eBay).

Hmmm… seems there are also USB-C -> MagSafe2 cables out there as well. I don’t have anything else to use a USB-C -> USB-C cable for (except my wirelesss iPhone charger which lives next to the bed), so a dedicated cable is probably preferable.

I have a USB-C to Magsafe 1 for an old white Macbook and it works fine.
Since I think the difference between 1 and 2 is just the connector shape
(there was a 1 to 2 adaptor that I think was just passive) I think it should work.

Normally there's a bit of chitchat between Mac and Magsafe charger: http://www.righto.com/2013/06/teardown-and-exploration-of-magsafe.html

but my best guess is the adapter just asks the USB-C power supply to supply 20V and the Mac is OK with that. Normally the Mac chats with a chip in the connector to control the charging light, but presumably the Mac is happy if there's no chip, or maybe there's something in the adapter to fake
    that protocol.

Got one like that with the wife's iPad. Fits neatly in my travel pouch
    with the cable and headphones.

Yes. I have a MS1 with an adapter running my 2017 MBA. I’ve also just found an Apple USB-C wallplug with foldable prongs that someone forgot to take
with them. It seems to output 20W though, so not sure what’ll happen when I plug in the USB-C -> MS2 cable…

    If it's 20W it'll probably do nothing. That profile is usually 5V @ 3A,
9V @ 3A = 27W (or possibly 12V @ 1.5A = 18W for USB-PDv1.0). Those voltages are likely to be too low for the Macbook to accept them. It's only when you
go to 60W will the adapter be capable of 20V @ 3A which the adapter will passthrough.

(there's a 15V @ 3A step on 45W chargers that the Macbook *may* be happy
with, but I couldn't say for sure)
