• Password for iCloud Mail

From Peter James@21:1/5 to All on Tue Jan 24 16:00:43 2023
Where would I find the password for the iCloud Mail app? Searching OS X Ive found two. One in Safari and one in Keychains, but neither seems correct. I'm trying to set up a default Mail a/c in Windows 10 under Bootcamp.

    Peter

Logging into iCloud.com via a browser to read Mail just needs your
    iCloud password.

Not sure what you mean by "a default Mail a/c" but if you want to send
and receive iCloud email from Windows then you need to configure the
Windows email client to use IMAP+SMTP with a special email-only password.

    The process is described here.

I probably used the wrong techie language, but it's the password for my iCloud
Mail a/c I need and I can't find it. Where is it stored on the iMac?

If you use Safari it is stored in the keychain.
If you use Firefox it is stored in Settings - Privacy&Security - Access&Passwords.

Remark: I use a German GUI.

Not the wrong language - just that the answer depends on what you are ultimately trying to do, hence the need to ask a bit more.

Your password for iCloud Mail will be different depending on how you
want to access the mail - two passwords to same email depending on where
    you come from.

If it is from Safari then keychain should have a copy as David and Joerg
    have said.

If it is ultimately for use in a Windows 10 email client then the
password you use in Safari won't work. You'll need to create a new
password as per the instructions in the link in my earlier reply above.

(I assume you do intend to use it for Windows access to mail because you mentioned Bootcamp in your original message?)
