• Ventura 13.2 (and a minor rant)

From John Hill@21:1/5 to All on Tue Jan 24 09:49:53 2023
I found an update to Ventura 13.2 available this morning, completely by
chance. Is it just out or has it been around for some time and I missed it?

Once installed, I had to agree to new terms and conditions for iCloud to continue using it. But, typically of Apple, they were displayed in very pale grey on a white ground. I found it quite illegible - I had to copy it and
paste it into TextEdit to have any chance of reading it.

I don't often use Music but needed it yesterday, and found exactly the same problem in the page displaying the content of an album. Apple Maps (and Google maps for that matter) also suffer from this problem.

Why are Apple so sfraid of contrast? It makes it very hard for us older folk :-(

    John.

That is confirmed. All my Apple devices have been updated.

I take a photograph of the device with my (now) Apple iPhone14 Pro and
then view the image on my 27 inch iMac. Magic!

In System Settings > Accessibility > Display there's an "Increase
    contrast" option that might help.

Sometimes the terms and conditions come with a "send by email" option.
(I haven't been offered 13.2 yet I'm not sure if it was there.)

I have tried that, but maybe not correctly because the results were weird
    and unhelpful.

(I haven't been offered 13.2 yet I'm not sure if it was there.)

I don't remember that being offered as an option but I could have missed
    it.

But why do the low contrast presentation anyway? If there's one thing that ought to be easily legible it's T&Cs! Elegant design is irrelevant.

You may be right in suggesting that the link has limits on its accessibility. If that is the case, it is something under your control.

I do have a Facebook presence but it is strictly confined to immediate family and I don't intend to widen it. But the email address is valid, and perhaps more appropriate than Usenet in this case.

Sorry about my observations to Jamie, but that's how I see it!

There are good reasons most of the things he links to get taken down.

    Cheers - Jaimie

Jamie, You should realise, as should a lot of other subscribers to this group, that we are dealing with two personalities here.

One is full of s**t about Malwarebytes, Etrecheck, Howard Oakley and all that stuff to the point of paranoia; with a bit of care much of this can be
filtered out and the rest ignored (and I wish people would do that, instead of giving knee-jerk reactions which put them on much the same footing).

But get hm off his hobbyhorse, and he becomes a normal sort of guy with whom I am perfectly happy to deal.

    Thank you for your concern.

    John.

Three weeks ago today it definitely was not :-(

I do have some understanding, John.

    It's a special day today:- https://jmp.sh/EqaC7R2a

I can see why - my condolences.

    Thank you, John.

Is there anything I can help you with? I don't think you are too far
    away. Please, just ask.

    Noted.

Can you watch the video I filmed here?

Apple Support couldn't pinpoint a reason.

It looks just fine when viewed on my iPhone 14 Pro or iPad Pro <rolls eyes>.

I have messaged Facebook but have had no response.

I went to look, but got:

Have you removed it. or has Facebook?

    Thanks for responding, John.

I had no idea whether or not you subscribed to Facebook.
The video is still 'up' and I can view it with multiple browsers.
Safari, though, is still the blurry one.
I've discovered that it's not just MY video which is effected.
ALL those I've viewed recently are effected in the same way.

Perhaps only 'friends' are allowed to view it.
I'm open to receiving a 'Friend Request'!

    Hello again, John!

I'm now quite certain that the message you saw is simply because we are
not 'friends' on Facebook. I understand you wishing to keep your account relatively private. I will contact you by email later today.

Please can you help with one matter here?

Jamie said - "There are good reasons most of the things he links to get

"Taken down" - from WHERE are my links taken down?

Do YOU know what he meant?

    Yes to email.

The only time I see DB is when you quote him. I view him as a
purveyor of misinformation; whether that is deliberate or not,
    I can't say.

Whatever, I have several entries in my global killfile for him.

There are a couple of other Trolls of that kind in the englishpeaking
Usenet. Arlen/Ragnuss/Newton or Rod Speed and his reincarnations to name
    a few.

Not seen in the German speaking Usenet so far or I didn't recognise it.

DB is a senile and mentally handicapped Troll and he probably knows it.
