• Filemaker file reader...

From David Kennedy@21:1/5 to All on Sun Jan 22 15:34:57 2023
I have some invoices and accounts dating back some time in Filemaker [11 I think] files.
Is there anything that will read them?
It's now far too expensive to think of buying the current version of Filemaker.

    Thanks,

    David Kennedy

I use FileMaker. If they're not confidential, send them to me and I'll
    convert them for you.

I stil have some very old files, in what I think is FMPR4.
I gave up on them. Last ime I looked
there was a convoluted upgrade path
that required several intermediate FMPR versions.

It is not a nice company,

Not confidential but, probably not important either...

I'm curious to see what exactly I was keeping. They date back 20 years or so. And, as Jan said, last time I tried there was a two stage upgrade path to follow. it all seemed too much trouble.

For ages I had a VM just to access my old Filemaker files before finally
    giving up.

    What about Sheepshaver? <https://sheepshaver.cebix.net>

If it’s just to see what’s in them, rather than a true “make it a
modern working document” conversion, then should be able to do System 7-through-9 and put the old version of Filemaker on it.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Thanks but I'm not sure that I'm up to setting up a machine specifically for that. I might see if I can get an idea of the contents from text edit but
after ten or twelve years they can't be that important.
