Pc just made a loud rather violent sounding grinding noise which at first
I thought was a hard drive but then I remembered from years ago it might be
cpu overheating but ISTR that was more of a buzz.

I loaded up everest and here is my temps they do seem a bit high what do you reckon?

Try powering off the PC and hand turning all fans. If any do not turn
freely or the blades wobble then it's time to replace it.

Don't forget, many non-Laptop PC's have fans inside the power supply
that can fail as well.
