  • Current Favourite Suppliers?

    It's a long time since I've built a machine so I'm a bit out of touch on component suppliers. I've certainly used Novatech in the past, seeming to remember good things about them and whilst they still sell components they
    seem to be pushing machine builds for corporates and gamers. I have used
    Scan but didn't really like them and avoided ebuyer as I didn't like their dynamic pricing model.

    The machine design and build will be down to a visitor who will be bringing most of the expensive parts with them from the US where things are cheaper. We'll probably be buying just the case, PSU and cheaper or bulkier
    ancillaries here.

    It will likely be a non gaming office drudge comp although it will likely
    be pimped a bit as the builder is a gamer and we'd like to future proof it
    a bit, we tend to build well and keep for ages.

    Any suppliers that you would keep going back to?

    I've used all of those. Ebuyer have certainly practised abstracting the
    urine in the past, but don't seem too bad these days -- and they seem to
    have a bigger range than many other suppliers. Scan are probably my second-most-used supplier above Novatech.

    I detest Amazon with a passion and wouldn't consider sending any money
    their way for anything ... but a lot of folk around here seem to use them.

    Any suppliers that you would keep going back to?

    I've found Kustom PCs to be good for parts I can't source anywhere else, especially odd internal cables and case parts.

    QuietPC do more than the low-noise systems for which they are
    well-known, worth a look.

    CCLonline and BargainHardware for me. And Apple, but that's probably not
    what you're after :D

    Support people knowledgable and helpful.

    Not that I buy new machines other than once in a blue moon. But they do
    supply more basic machines.

    I use Scan quite a bit, both for personal and work purposes. Never had a problem.

    It helps that I have free shipping on my personal account. Haven't ordered from that recently but last time I did the free shipping flag on my account still worked: https://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-hexus/138836-scan2hexus-free-shipping-setup-guide.html

    For work, Purchasing prefer 'approved suppliers' because they have a link of inventory into our purchasing system. For Scan they have to put in orders
    by hand, but the approved suppliers are not great for computer components
    (and Scan are better priced) so they're happy to do that. Stuff tends to arrive next day which is better than a lot of suppliers.
