  • PAN and Windows 10 and Logitech ball mice issue

    Noting (I think I have mentioned this before but can't find it at the
    moment).

    If I use a wireless ball mouse (Logitech M570) under Windows 10 then
    after a short while it corrupts the display of PAN (areas progressively
    turn black) and I have to restart PAN to continue working.

    Yesterday I tried it with a Logitech USB ball mouse (no scroll wheel) and
    I encountered the same problem.
    Tentative conclusion is that it is the Logitech drivers under W10.

    I don't have the same issue under Windows 7.

    I've ordered a Kensington USB traditional (optical) mouse just to see if
    this works OK.
    I seem to have hidden my pre_Logitech mice, mainly because I switched exclusively to Logitech ball mice because of hand and wrist problems.

    Oh, the touch pad doesn't show these problems.
    [Wondering if it is the speed of moving the mouse which is the issue.]

    PAN 0.140 on W7.

    I used to get that with a Microsoft Intellimouse 5000, but since its
    scroll wheel went all soft and sticky I've replaced it with a Microsoft
    Mobile mouse and (touch wood) it hasn't happened since.

    Do you actually use the drivers? I've not installed those for a decade
    or more, just used the builtins.

    I just let it do its own thing.
    Now using the Kensington Optical Mouse, but assume the install is a
    generic driver.
    I am relearning what a pain a traditional (non-ball) mouse is.

    Nah!

    With the optical mouse it just seems to hang randomly so I am back on the
    USB ball mouse.

    On bad days I'll use the touch pad.
