EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. � A woman is facing multiple charges after
police
said she was the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash last week.
Parshay Lewis, a 34-year-old from East St. Louis, was charged with
failure
to report an accident involving death, failure to report an accident
involving death and failure to give information or render aid to the
injured in connection with the crash that killed Coryesha Davis.
According to a press release from Illinois State Police, the crash
occurred on July 12 at the 2200 block of State Street in East St.
Louis.
Police said Lewis was behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck
Davis.
They said Lewis then drove away.
Davis was taken to the hospital for treatment, but died from her
injuries
a short time later.
The crash was initially investigated by the East St. Louis Police
Department. The department then requested assistance from the
Illinois
State Police.
State police special agents found Lewis' car, and Lewis turned
herself in
on July 14. She was charged on July 16 and is being held at the St.
Clair
County Jail.
