The Czech Republic has the largest number of small methamphetamine
labs in Europe. Police prosecuted 3,415 people for drug-related
offenses last year.
Methamphetamine and marijuana remain the most commonly used drugs
in the Czech Republic. Last year, the police prosecuted 3,415
people for drug-related offences, a number similar to 2022 when
3,418 people were charged.
Have the Czechs given up the use of Chocolate, Sugar, Coffee, Tobacco, Alcohol? Do the physicians there not prescribe
anti-histamines for allergies? Opiates for pain?
The article was about methamphetamine, not allergy pills.
From the numbers of prosecutions mentioned, the laws prescribing punishment are ineffective. It would make more sense to make Methaphetamines made by pharmaceutical methods legal and sold as alcohol
in premeasured doses by licensed dealers. Same for cannabis.
In THEORY ... but in PRACTICE some drugs are
just *too* in multiple dimensions.
Ideology MUST be tempered by Reality. A bummer,
but still ... humans are humans and act like
humans do. Unlimited meth or opiates leads to
an unlimited number of totally destroyed addicts
living in the gutters and prowling the streets.
For all the 1920s hype, alcohol and reefer are
much less of an issue in this respect - most
drunks/weedheads can still hold a job, still
'get along'.
So, gotta be SMART about 'legalization'. Skip
the slogans and banners.
