Effects of psychedelic drugs can last for days or WEEKS, research
shows - as experts say pilot who tried to bring down a plane days
after taking 'magic mushrooms' should be a cautionary tale.
The effect lasting is due to the opening up of a lot of
suppressed stuff. He was likely depressed and trying to avoid
dealing with that. My first trip was on cannabis in a homemade by
brownie and
it told me a lot about myself. On Street Acid, likely LSD I realized
that I was a big ball of rage with a thin fabric of personality wrapped
around it. I used to to verbally assail my friends and picked rather
unstable friends. I got over all that in the last 46 years or so.
Most of my friends of that time have passed on and I am 20 years >>> older than most of my surviving friends.
. . .
If they were THAT good there wouldn't be much
of a MARKET :-)
The longest-lasting I'm aware of is 'STP'. The
overall effects are similar to LSD, but it can
hang on for days.
The sneaky trick with STP is that it comes on
rather SLOWLY. This leads people to think they
were cheated, got a bad batch, so they take a
few more hits. After that they get to spend a
long weekend in cartoon-land ...
I knew one such guy - spent four days hiding
in the bathtub ... which was GOOD because he
didn't remember how to use a toilet - likely
couldn't even SEE it.
The other sneaky one is DMT. It comes on SUPER
FAST AND STRONG - like several good hits of
acid injected directly into the brain. It wears
off quickly, but the initial attack can kinda
break weaker minds.
Well then what is needed is mind strengthening exercises.
I used Ki Breathing then and in a lot of situations still use it.
I have written a short article about it and may publish it to
the adp eventually. I never played with STP or DMT though and
likely never will because why bother?
Ummmm ... never had such issues ........ :-)
Why does it seem everyone is psychologically unstable
these days, full of serious "problems" ? Probably
shouldn't do ANY psychedelics. Maybe Gen-A' or B'
will be more mellow.
Because we learned to pay attenion to what was happening in the world and that world influences what is in our brains.
Minor problem with that analysis ... the 60s dippies
were WELL aware of all the shit, often in better
detail than todays' MSM-fed generations. Also they,
well the males, were in constant danger of getting
physically dragged in. But - while the hippies were
dippies they did NOT have the broad spectrum of
psychological woes I see in today's youth.
*Something* bad happened - I think starting in the
early-80s. The kiddies became confused, agonized over
every facet of their own nature. Can't exactly pin
down what the "something" was - though I suspect
Jimmy Carter was starting to smell it, the basis
of his "malaise" speech. Everybody thought he was
just peeved about Reagan winning, but over time
I've decided that he was talking about something
far deeper, more fundamental, something more
deeply psychological/sociological.
I went to schools in the 1940s and 1950s where I was taught many untrue things about our great democracy
Well ... two things.
First, how countries see THEMSELVES is usually very
different from how OTHERS see them. A population knows
all the little nuances that outsiders can't know. In the
40s/50s almost all Americans did NOT see what they were
doing and thinking, what 'reality' was, as anything other
than The Truth. Not much 'relativism' back then.
(American) Truth, (American) Justice, the (American) Way.
Second, the "Cold War" was becoming a BIG thing and
it was necessary to WIN. Such necessity justifies a
LOT of things. Forget all the goody-goody bullshit,
survival outranks all of that. Fear not, the foes
are JUST as wicked or worse ....
then had to reconcil that with
real life observatons and if the lies were true then none of the Civil
Rights movements would have been necessary. Then when the newspapers
were a quarter and worth the expense I noticed from San Francisco that
black children were being shot and killed by the Police in Oakland.
What do you think that does for respect for law and order?
So cognitive dissonance playes a role.
Cognitive Dissonance is everyone's favorite sport. It's
how we cope with a universe not made by or for beings
like ourselves, "beings" at ALL, where nothing is 'fair'
or the way we'd like it to be. If we can't believe six
impossible things before breakfast we'd all go nuts.
I'll refer you to the Buddhas' view of reality here - how
we just get a 2nd/3rd-hand view through thick people-colored
glasses.
We pride ourselves on "logic". Alas logic is a machine
and the quality of the output depends on the quality of
the input. Look carefully and you'll see most of our
axioms outside of a few features of the flinty-hard
sciences are "soft truths", subjective, human-centered
rather than properties of the universe.
You can put them through the logic machine and get what
seems like a shiny perfect answer but instead ... well ...
the acronym is "GIGO" ... "Garbage In = Garbage Out".
The answer is usually a multiple of 42.
Harvard Med actually did a fMRI study of people doing
"logic", and the emotional parts of the brain lit up
like the proverbial xmas tree. Soft truths, soft
reasoning, requires putting your thumb on the scale
so you can *believe in* the answers.
We must also credit Plato for his "Allegory Of
The Cave". He kinda left out the last paragraph,
the required conclusion, perhaps intentionally
remembering what happened to Socrates. It is very
much like the Buddhist view.
Buy yer discount human-colored glasses here ! :-)
So tell me again about whose "truths" are THE TRUTH.
Whose POV is THE POV.
Review the term "realpolitk". Machiavelli explained
in over a couple of volumes, but Kissinger sometimes
lets the cat out of the bag as well. Realpolitik
is what makes the world go 'round. The rest is
BS and posturing and best-wishes.
Face it - we mostly just have to WING IT 24/7/365.
Individual, sometimes group, personality factors kinda
determine whether the results are (human) "good" or
(human) "bad". Feel it out and pick a side.
And that's the surreal state of things. Maybe Dali
saw it right(er) :-)
Or did I go too deep here ... were you just looking
for a fascist/commie, black/white, lefty/righty,
holy/unholy flaming rant ??? I'll leave that
ultra-dumbed-down stuff to the M$M .....
bliss - Dell Precision E7730- PCLinuxOS 64- Linux 6.5.9- Plasma 5.27.8
PCLinuxOS is just fine ... but they should have found
a snappier name :-)
