The U.S. is moving two nuclear submarines to “appropriate regions”
in response to “inflammatory” remarks by Russia’s former leader, President Donald Trump announced.

President Donald Trump made the announcement on Truth Social.

“I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in
the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and
inflammatory statements are more than just that. Words
are very important, and can often lead to unintended
consequences, I hope this will not be one of those
instances,” Trump wrote.

Note however that it wasn't Putin who made the
threatening allusions, farmed off to the #2.

We seem to be drifting back to the bad old cold
war days where everyone was on hair-trigger alert
and globe-roasting mistakes were almost made.

NOT sure if the post-WW2 leaders have the consequences
so firmly in their minds - they didn't see all the
destruction, didn't smell the rotting bodies.

While submarine missiles have long range, one reason
for getting them close to the opponent is to cut down
on their response time - much damage can be done before
they can even get their red alert going.

In THIS case it seems to be mostly politics ... suggest
nuking us and there has to be a counter-move.
