French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday announced a plan
to increase defense spending over the next two weeks due
    to growing threats.

In the French president's traditional speech to the military
on the eve of Bastille Day, Macron said, "Since 1945, freedom
has never been so threatened, and never so seriously.''

According to Macron, France's annual defense spending will
rise to €64 billion ($74.8 billion) by 2027 — an amount
that would double the €32 billion in annual spending when
he became president in 2017. France had aimed to reach
    this goal by 2030.

Macron also said that an additional €3.5 billion will be
allocated for 2026 and a further €3 billion in 2027, the
    end of his second term.

"To be free in this world, we must be feared. To be feared,
we must be powerful,'' Macron said.

"Never has peace on our continent depended to such an extent
on the decisions that we take now," he added.

    . . .

Looks like circumstances and Trump are finally
    getting the EU/NATO in gear.

The best part is that France won't buy a single round or bomb from the USA. That should enrage Trump, get ready for another hilarious online temper tantrum.

Ummm ... let's wait and see about that. The USA
has, and is sole maker of, some things Ukraine
    just MUST have now.

Basically, what's going to happen is a political
version of the shell game. The EU countries will
buy our advanced weapons, then we will find a
backdoor - politically acceptable - way to pay
them back, or at least mostly so.

Sorry isolationists - the world just doesn't work
that way anymore. Trump HAS tried with Vlad, but
Vlad has CHANGED over the past years, he's in a
whole different mode of thought and cannot be
'negotiated' with in the usual ways. However he
must be opposed, blocked, distracted, taxed.

More and more troops are gathering on the borders
of OTHER countries now. The more and longer Vlad
has slack, the more and more troops will be
diverted there. Then, an 'incident' ...

No Such Thing as "over there" anymore. NYC is 20
minutes from Moscow as the ICBM flies ... 2 minutes
as a submarine missile flies. Vlad has said he
intendeds to at least reconstitute the old USSR,
and maybe try Lenin's plan for "global socialism".

Your Vlad butt-lick groups removed for public
    safety ...

But we can always support Israel.

    No matter what Israel does.

    That never changes.

The world has never worked that way.
Even our Founding Fathers took on the
Barbary Pirates when their commerce raiding
could not be tolerated. US conservatives
have had an isolationist streak for decades,
opposing everything from Lend Lease to the
Marshall Plan to Trump's avowed America-In-
    Retreat policy.

Trump HAS tried with Vlad, but
Vlad has CHANGED over the past years,

Putin hasn't changed, he has always
been a USSR revivalist imperialist. No
one believes his reasons for aggression
against Ukraine. And he will no more stop
with a Ukraine takeover than Hitler stopped
    with a Czechoslovakian takeover.

    he's in a
whole different mode of thought and cannot be
'negotiated' with in the usual ways. However he
must be opposed, blocked, distracted, taxed.

If Trump can make money from sucking
up to Putin he will. If Trump can make
money supporting NATO he will. He will
suck up to anyone for money.

Trump opposed EVs until Musk gave
him money, Trump opposed Bud Light until
they gave him money, Trump opposed Tiktok
until they gave him money. As Deep Throat
    said, follow the money.

I make no apologies for Israel of US Israel policy. In practical
political terms Israel is a beachhead in the ME that can't be beat.

Just don't call Israel a US ally. It is not.

Israel will stab America in the back and even
attack America if it sees the slightest way to
    profit from it.
