Looks like the NWS issued at least five flash flood
    warnings, including three 'extreme/emergency'-level
ones, before the giant flood hit in Texas.

Thing is, nobody near the river was listening, or
at least not paying any attention.

Sorry, Trump didn't castrate the weather service,
it was still doing its thing.

Oh wait - if K had been elected they could just
'beamed out' everybody in a 20 mile area, right ?

It's a human psychology problem here, often seen.
    "Warnings"/"Alerts" are a dime a dozen. Soon
nobody even hears them anymore because 99.99% of
the time nothing will happen (to you). They will
turn off their phones and radios, flip to the
    porn channel.

Between that, and that the really bad stuff
    started after midnight, well ....

Did NWS warn the correct people?

Did Don Jello fire the guy who knew who to warn?

No, the NWS wouldn't have been gutted.

I ignore tsunami alerts because only small part of the wave can fit
through the Golden Gate, and then has to refract around San Francisco,
and then through miles of shallow water and salt water marshes.

Neither the President or the NWS had anything to do with it. The NWS forecast was delivered, the risk was known, but as Texas voted down
emergency alerts that would have saved those lives, the responsibility
can only be with the Republican legislators who voted down that
    legislation.

Several have since recanted, stating that in hindsight, they should
have voted*for* the alert systems expansion instead of against it.
