All are said to contain RAAC (reinforced autoclaved aerated
concrete) – a cheap form of concrete widely used between
the 1950s and 1980s and now known to carry the risk of collapse.

In Aberdeen, the RAAC houses are confined to one area. In
Dundee, five residential pockets have been identified.
There are more RAAC homes in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire,
and others in Angus. It’s in Edinburgh, West Lothian and
    North and South Lanarkshire.

Quite how widespread it is in homes built on the cheap by
local authorities across Scotland remains to be seen,
although it is now estimated there are at least 5,500.

What have already been seen, however, are the devastating
consequences of the RAAC issue on those living in affected
properties – along with brazen attempts by local and
    national government to duck responsibility.

    . . .

RAAC - often known as "foam-crete" - originally had
promise. It requires less cement (expensive) and is
    light.

Problem is that any kind of concrete is stiff and
brittle. Over time, the little bubble walls in
the RAAC start to crack. This dangerously reduces
    the structural strength.

If used for interior partition walls, no problem -
but if it's literally holding up the building or used
for upper-story floors, then there's a BIG problem.

As said, this was used for commercial and govt housing
projects for 30 years. Slap 'em up quick and cheap,
kind of the mindset with those US coastal condos.

Now the bill has come due ... but govt is sticking
that bill right on to the home owners lapels. "WE
did it wrong, so YOU pay !".

Thing is, with current prices, most CANNOT pay.

Govt will rebuild - then give 'em to 'immigrants'
    for free .....

Immigration has ruined the UK. It's unrecognizable from a few decades ago
and a festering sewer now. Compare it to San Francisco or Seattle.

And of course you have proof that you've seen this yourself, in the form
of personal photos from your trips there post-CoVid as well as ones from decades earlier which proves your claim, right?

...or are you just parroting some propaganda machine's racist spew?

Many people would love to live in those places; but the demand for
housing has driven up the real estate prices so high that only very
wealthy people can afford to buy and rents are also extremely high.
Hard to believe that there such a demand to move to those "festering
sewers". All those wealthy people aren't immigrants. And, by the way,
unless you are descended 100% from native peoples and no one in your
family tree or you moved away from the ancestral homeland, some or all
of your ancestors and you too were/are immigrants.

For years Cupertino and Mountain View were bedroom communities for San Francisco. Now San Francisco is a bedroom community for Cupertino and
    Mountain View.
