"Up To" might mean TOMORROW, or literally
two weeks plus. Trump LIKES to keep things
indefinite ... confuses opponents. Smart.
However, I don't think Iran is going to
negotiate, it's culturally wrong for them.
Newer info - Iran DOES have all the U235 it
needs to build some nukes. By a few reports
the UberAyatollah has told them to do so.
Also reported, the materials have been
evacuated to obscure 'safe' sites. Just
bombing a few sites won't help.
Nukes are 1940s tech - easy these days.
The rest is lost in the Fog Of War ...
Iran could just fire their nuclear waste at Israel, would be a long
lasting headache. It would make the affected area uninhabitable for far longer than a nuclear bomb would do.
A "dirty" attack WOULD be effective - and easy. IronDome
would HELP spread the nastiness.
Of course it would make large swaths of Israel uninhabitable
for years/decades/(centuries?). Dunno if the various groups
WANT that exactly. Maybe they DO hate Jews SO much they'd
sacrifice all the land ?
There have been many officials talking of late. Depending
on how you parse their stuff it MIGHT mean they think Iran
either already has some nukes or can assemble the components
like Real Quick. However Iran has few ways to DELIVER, at
least to Israel. OTHER US-friendly sites may NOT be so
well prepared. It's also possible to physically smuggle
in nukes - if you can smuggle in tons of drugs you can
smuggle in a few nukes. Then, just a phone call ......
Iran claims to have hidden their best uranium slugs in
"secret locations" - likely obscure little holes in the
ground. It WILL have access to that forever. Iran and
NK were also collaborating on H-bomb tech ... so don't
bet on 'small' 20kt explosions.
Final tidbit of the day, it's been noticed that there
has been a LARGE increase in cargo flights from China
to Iran. They turn off their transponders before arriving.
New missiles ? Worse ??? Hey, lots of people buy Chinese
arms and Iran sells LOTS of oil to China ........ Iran
is one of those cases that are not "insular - many are
affected, many will have 'interests'.
It DID occur to me ... B2s are "stealthy", but not REALLY
"invisible, esp from ABOVE. Both Russia and China will note
if B2s are launched and can surely keep exact track, enough
to provide hyper-updated coordinates to Iran. It'd just look
like Iran air defense "got lucky" ......
