Seems the IronDome is NOT entirely reliable. Iran IS
scoring some bad hits. I can think of a few cheap tricks
that'd improve their hit ratio even more - and if I can
then THEY can.
The Iranian approach now seems to be to DEPLETE the
IronDome system ... it uses rockets and Israel only
has just SO many. There's a new laser system, but
it doesn't seem to be quite ready yet.
On the plus, getting past IronDome is not nearly
reliable enough to risk sending a nuke missile.
I really do think Iran has some by now. However
they'd be 'precious packages' and need like a
good 95+ percent chance of getting in.
Israel needs to look at cheapo sea/land routes
for physically importing nukes. This is NOT as
easy as looking for incoming missiles.
In any case, there IS now mounting damage inside
Israel - NOT popular, NOT politic.
This has prompted some in the govt to plead for
Trump to come in and join their war - however
long/nasty it may be.
Trump and Vance are NOT down with that however,
remember their strong "forever war" platform.
You could bomb Iran for years and STILL not
'defeat' it, NOT be sure its nuke infrastructure
was gone. SOME (known) stuff is seriously
dug-into mountains. It'd literally take a
deep-penetrating nuke warhead to reliably
get AT that. There are also apparently some
"unknown" facilities.
Nukes are 1940s tech - and Iran has the stuff
and expertise and a lot of MOTIVE. So, be VERY
careful here.
