Car manufacturer Volvo Cars has announced that it will cut
around 3000 jobs, totaling 15% of Volvo’s office-based
workforce.
Volvo has stated that the job cuts would mostly affect
office-based positions across the country as part of
large-scale cost-cutting efforts.
Speaking in a statement, Håkan Samuelsson, Volvo Cars
president and CEO, explains, “The actions announced
today have been difficult decisions, but they are
important steps as we build a stronger and even more
resilient Volvo Cars.”

Volvo was one of the first to kiss queen Greta
Greenie's little ass and declare it would build
no more petroleum vehicles.
TWO little problems. First, most everyone HATES EVs.
Second, CHINA can make EVs a LOT more cheaply than
Volvo or any EU maker.
So, Volvo cut its own throat - twice to be sure.
Look Volvo ... a few decent models of maybe
three-cylinder green-as-possible gasoline cars.
Add in a few Volvo style/function perks. They
do not have to be race-cars, just functional
and efficient for most consumers needs. Dual-
fuel capability - zero to 100% alcohol - would
be very useful. That tech is now well-refined.
Tolerance for moisture-contamination in
alcohols is a must. I THINK these could be
produced rather cheaply, cheap enough to be
a popular "peoples car".
Diesel ... ummm ... TOO many issues with
particulates, sulfur and NOx ... I think
its time has come for "peoples cars" -
reserve it for industrial/marine apps.
LET - but don't help - China corner the EV segment.
Nobody can compete. EU makers should stick to the
multi-fuel IC engine vehicles.
Now, we just need a new Citroen 2CV :-)
