Someone on NewsNation mentioned this. The auto industry
especially, but also other kinds of machine makers ...
seems the reserve stocks of rare earth elements, esp
    neodymium, are running out fast.

These things CAN be bought elsewhere, small amounts
even inside the USA if you can get past the greenies,
but by far China controls the world supply. Some of
those "other places", China OWNS THE MINES.

Yes, we CAN make stuff using more conventional magnets,
did that for a long time. ALNICO and iron-oxide based
magnets can be pretty good ... but the devices have
to be LARGER because those magnets are weaker.

Likely we can always get enough rare earths for
sci-tech ... but 'industry' needs a lot more.

I suspect the REAL reason Trump wants Greenland is
so we can strip-mine it for the rare earths.

    Hmmm ... I'm no geologist, but I don't think
Greenland is that distinct from northeast
Canada. If it's in Greenland it ought to be
on the nearby Canadian arctic islands too.

But then, we've alienated Canada :-)

    "We" didn't alienate Canada, your
hero Trump did. In fact he has alienated
    every democracy in the world.

He only likes muslim sultans and
    communist dictators and strong man
    dictatorships.

Which he wants to turn America into.

    Proud of that, are you?
