Movie plot - "Indiana" is chased by Russian agents
into a little "town" - except it's a FAKE town,
nothing but mannequins and a few pigs. In a
few minutes there's a nuke bomb test. Indy locks
himself into a Norge refrigerator - bearing a
panel saying "lead lined", and though blasted
miles away DID survive.
Yes, they DID such tests, kinda often.
But - was there EVER such a thing as a
lead-lined Norge ???
I'd not be totally surprised - the old
Cold War did inspire a lot of 'survival'
related stuff, esp in the 50s.
Norge fridges - old but ROBUST tech.
40s/50s mostly. Best identified by
the circular condenser coil on top
of the unit.
Came across one in the late 2010s ... in
a country gas-o-mart. STILL worked !
Wow ... 1940s tech STILL working while
yer more recent CRAP maybe, just might,
be good for 10 years. How FAR we've
fallen !
IMHO "durable goods" ought to be damned
well DURABLE. That was SUPPOSED to be
the "American Way" ....... THE Best.
