As Elon Musk steps down from his role at the White House,
there are signs Donald Trump’s love affair with Silicon
Valley could be on the rocks.
The president sailed to election victory in November
buoyed up by a wave of support from tech billionaires.
But as his America First measures on immigration, university
funding, tariffs and energy begin to bite, a tech bro break-
up looms.
. . .
In pursuit of his America Only agenda, Trump is
kind of screwing his "Tech Bro" friends. THEY
wanted gazillions of Chinese and Indian imports
(they ARE good !) but Trump wants a much more
Americanized tech force.
Bezos also wanted a much richer partnership with
China and India. Now it looks like tariffs and
Trump are going to get in the way.
If Musk plays this JUST RIGHT he might come out
a little ahead in the game. He knows best how
Trump thinks.
The PROBLEM of course is that the USA alone
does not HAVE the tech force needed to be
globally dominant ... barely even 'competitive'.
American ed, American culture ... has kind of
drifted towards "so-so" over the past decades.
Whatever WE could do, China could do it better
and cheaper ... which kinda discouraged our
potential top scholars. Why SHOULD they try ?
