For a few seconds, they displayed a prospective
diagram of a NAZI nuke. One bit said "tritium".
Their PLAN was to skip mere fission bombs and
go straight to megaton H-Bombs. LOTS of effort
    in that direction.

It is SUGGESTED, but NEVER confirmed, that Heisenberg
was an anti-NAZI and SABOTAGED the math. He was SO
smart that nobody else would be able to detect such
    tweaks.

It's NEVER said because, even now, there would be
retribution against the traitor - death to even his
    distant relatives.

Anyway, THIS was The Opposition. It was maybe a
year or so away from a usable weapon. Don't bitch
about the Manhattan project without figuring in
this aspect. ALL major Euro/US cities would have
been megaton obliterated. Hitler would have
ruled supreme rather than dying in Argentine
    obscurity.

Come ON ... you don't REALLY think he killed
    himself .......... ?

Enough paranoia. To get tritium you need a fission reactor. Fermi
    built one in 1942 Chicago.

In 1945 Germany still did not have one. Fermi knew to clean
graphite of boron. Germany was still obsessed with heavy water.

They were at least 5 years away in 1945.

And with bombs falling everywhere, Germany lacked the industrial
capacity to refine Uranium. And they would not know about
Plutonium until they built a first reactor.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.
