OK, not the best sci-fi ever.

However is DOES have some more modern, worrisome,
    features.

Big colony ship with quasi-religious-fanatic (Eric
Bana) in charge lands on icy world. Eric and wife
have long since gone Full Messiah.

The sci-fi angle ... a program was developed for
'expendable' people - kinda average nobodies -
and WHEN they are killed new versions are
literally body-printed into existence - minimal
    memories of Old Self.

Yep, this WILL be possible eventually. MAYbe
    in under 100 years.

The 'expendable' people get to suffer the new
hazards, the new horrible diseases, to be found
on the new world. Die, die and die again until
    some vax can be found.

"Mickey" is the prime "expendable". He is the
17th rebirth of himself. Low status, but does
have a FEW friends and groupies.

The horrible awful nasty-looking aliens suck
in Mickey. Presumed dead. Alas what the aliens
did was SAVE him from doom. Meanwhile a
    Mickey-18 had been printed. Problem.

Best, weird, scene - two girlfriends in an
elevator decide WHICH Mickey they'll fuck.
17 is more mellow, 18 tilts more aggressive.

There IS a message for OUR time here. This IS tech
that WILL be realized eventually. Not tomorrow,
but eventually. Abuses of such - predictable
    and nasty.

Tech is a TOOL ... but a tool for WHOM ? Mostly
for the 'Elite'. If they CAN fuck you, rip you
off, they WILL. Some will try to "justify",
others won't bother. DO, OR ELSE, will be
    the underlying paradigm.
