    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us/politics/2025/05/26/texas-requires-ten-commandments-display-state-schools/

Texas is preparing to force schools to display The Ten Commandments,
in a victory for hardline Christian activists.

The ‘Ten Commandments’ bill easily passed the state’s Republican-
held House of Representatives on Sunday and must return to the
state Senate for final approval before send-off to Governor
Greg Abbott, who is expected to sign the legislation into law.

Under the proposal, a 20-inch tall “durable poster or framed
copy” of the biblical laws would be displayed in a “conspicuous
place” in every primary and secondary school classroom across
    the state.

    . . .

And what about the 'commandments' of Mohammed ? Of 'Satan' ?
Of Zeus and Woden and Enki ? Of the Buddha and Krishna ???

Sorry - but RIGHT UP FRONT the US constitution says the
State should STAY THE HELL *OUT* of the religion biz.
The Founders lived in that kind of world and KNEW why
    it shouldn't be that way.

The USA isn't supposed to be an ANY "-ian" country.
Don't care HOW many fanatics there may be for the
various "-ians". Back off, don't do it.

Shit - the War Against Catholics is STILL going on
in Northern Ireland ....... THIS is where State-
    sponsored/enforced religion leads, endless pointless
    wars against your own .............

    We need more religious education.

After all, preachers get schooled in the
Ten Commandments and they turned out OK.

I am more concerned that the commandments will be presented in the short
form popularized by some English translations. So much meaning is lost to
the causal reader. Hopefully there will be discussions about such concepts
and the more complete meaning revealed.

Hide from the truth if you want. Seek and so much more is revealed when
    you are ready.

Careful, you will literally be burnt to death in
a number of places for saying that ! People vest
too much in their religions - suggesting they've
been wasting their time does NOT go over well.
    'Converts' - religion-A to religion-B - are common
enough but the 'religiosity' is conserved.

The main issue HERE is that it was smartly determined
that The State should just stay OUT of the religion
biz. Texas, and some others, do not seem to understand
the important reasoning behind that principle.

Best immediate response is for reps of several other
religions to SUE - demanding Equal Access/Prominence.
The "Satanists" should get in on this too - they'd
be the most fun contenders. The idea is to overload
the 'Christian Nation' theme - fair for one, fair
for ALL. Don't bother arguing from the non-theistic
angle, too few, too little resonance. State PREFERENCE,
BACKING, PROMOTION, of a religion is the real issue.

Some wag might dump a huge statue of Zeus on the
schoolyard front lawn too and the press can watch
'em try in a panic to HIDE and REMOVE it :-)

Yep, could get THAT bad. HUAC had long arms even after

Oh, I remember, a REQUIRED course in HS ... a textbook

"The Pledge" is kinda harmless - I just never

religious or religions. Think they're a mistake,
but they're ultra-common and frankly most are

The PROBLEM is when The State kinda backs ONE

The thing about the pledge also is that one is not required to say it.

Um ... I'm cold-war era - you WERE expected to.
    It was official start-of-day stuff.

Also remember the "Duck and Cover" drills ... didja

In any case, I don't despise the religious ... just
if they try a hard-core legal push of their favored
religion. You get yours, others get theirs, some of
us choose nada. Should all be OK/ignored in the
eyes of The State. Uncivil DEEDS in the name of yer
religion, that's a separate legal issue. Islamist
"honor killings" or burning "witches" - big No-No.

There is a supreme court case that protected the right not to say it.

    LATER.

What will the USSC rule TOMORROW ? Will they stick with
the sensibility of Original Intent, or pick sides ? In
truth THIS is an issue where even the most 'conservative'
OUGHT to stick with the Original Intent.

The thing about the commandments' being there is that it subtly influences them, frankly, against Christianity. They know it's being pushed on them. It's even a bad idea evangelically, let alone constitutionally as you mention.

I think I get what you're saying. The State trying to
FORCE a religion on people generally results in an
even larger COUNTER-reaction soon enough. Humans, esp
kiddies, are naturally contrary. What The Establishment
demands, THEY go counter by instinct.

It's why the kids of the uptight 40s/50s gen turned
into hippie-dippie commie types - and THEIR kids
went corporate/Wall-Street yuppie. "Just Say No"
became "Just Say MORE Please !".

However "the culture", USA anyhow, IS more fractured
now. You don't get MASS cultural shifts, just factions
who tend to make war on each other. MIGHT be a large-

    We need more religious education.

    The earliest Jews were polytheistic:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henotheism#Canaanite_religion_and_Yahwism

And, so, yes, they should display the 10 Commandments!

I am sure that will have great meaning
for all the Asian children in school.

I am more concerned that the commandments will be presented in the short
form popularized by some English translations. So much meaning is lost to the causal reader. Hopefully there will be discussions about such concepts and the more complete meaning revealed.

No, there WON'T be "discussions" or "context" or such.
The idea is INDOCTRINATION - "THIS is right, everything
    and everyone else is WRONG/Enemy".

Hide from the truth if you want. Seek and so much more is revealed when
    you are ready.

    I just see ERROR.

But that's hardly an unusual thing. History is replete.

"The push to add “under God” to the pledge gained momentum during the second Red Scare, a period when U.S. politicians were keen to assert the
moral superiority of U.S. capitalism over Soviet communism, which many conservatives regarded as “godless.”"

btw christ had to poop in the bushes just like everyone
    else of
    that time.

    Was the bush burning?

he wouldnt have toilet paper if it was burnt.

he might just have a black bottom

    yes because jesus was black.

jesus had no colour he was transparent

so at night he was black.

Texas is preparing to force schools to display The Ten Commandments,
in a victory for hardline Christian activists.

The ‘Ten Commandments’ bill easily passed the state’s
Republican- held House of Representatives on Sunday and must return
to the state Senate for final approval before send-off to Governor
Greg Abbott, who is expected to sign the legislation into law.

Under the proposal, a 20-inch tall “durable poster or framed
copy” of the biblical laws would be displayed in a “conspicuous >> place” in every primary and secondary school classroom across
    the state.

    I disagree with this.
the pledge of allegiance is one thing, religion is another can of
    worms.

    Probably not the best idea.

What do you suggest to deliver these messages that are not being
    taught at home?

Assuming The State or state-sponsored theologians and

Fuck that. Double-fuck it. Bad news all around.

Looks like Texas just passed on on a Sunday. Tennessee passed it on a Saturday?

The 10 Commandments are Old Testament, so the Jewish sabbath applies.

But either way, at least one of them is a hypocrite.
