Trump - for good reasons - would LIKE to end
"Birthright Citizenship".
Alas it IS hard-writ in the constitution.

Admittedly it was a politic for a VERY NEW [shrieking]
underpopulated nation ... they wanted to
suck-in as many as possible. Could NOT [shrieking] have
foreseen the effects and gross abuses 200+
years down the line.
SO, IMHO [sic], we're STUCK [shrieking] with it.
Going FORWARD [shrieking], it MAY [shrieking] be possible for the
legislature to craft a new law that somehow
puts illegal immigrants into a sort of
legal limbo - not REALLY [shrieking] in the USA.
But we'd have to GET [shrieking] such a law writ and
vetted. Will NOT [shrieking] be easy or prompt.

Fuck off with all your goddamned shrieking, you fucking Nazi pseudo-sage

I think trying to undermine the constitution by "crafting" a new law is way too dangerous. That sets precedent that the constitution can be overriden without the amendment process. Also, why shouldn't these American Nationals who have grown up in the United States be citizens? They were born and
raised in this country; they're Americans.

Republicans are in a spasm. The US is about to become a minority
majority country. White dudes want to remain in control despite
being minorities. Don Jello was hired to kneecap Those People so
white dudes would remain in charge. They tried that here in 1995.
The fact that race is such a big deal in our politics is bad enough,
and Trump's anti-immigrant rhetoric doesn't help at all. I don't
understand it. He even lied to his voters (I know! What a shocker!)
that he only cared about handling illegal immigrants.
Some republicans have gone batshit crazy. You know the man who was
deported to El Salvador without due process? Well, some conservative
news channels started accusing him of absuing his wife. He had *no due process*; how can one accuse him of that, and use it as basis for deportation???
Why does it seem that no one cares about the constitution anymore?

"Homegrowns are next": Trump hopes to
deport and jail U.S. citizens abroad

Though, that also calls into question his ability to carry it out. We
both know that ICE is essentially under his thumb, ready to do all
they can. However, ICE doesn't have unilateral power, even in
practice. He'd still have to use the deportation process, as sending
American prisoners abroad isn't a codified procedure. However, one
cannot deport American Citizens, so it makes me wonder how he plans on getting it done. It would be extremely difficult to fudge the process
for deporting American Citizens.
What really scares me is that people WILL support this. They'll say
"get 'em outta here" 20k times before they consider "maybe that puts
us all at danger since there's no due process".
