State Farm General, California’s largest home insurer, has
been granted approval to raise its home insurance rates across
the state — triggering fierce backlash from consumer advocates.
A judge and Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara approved the
hike, which will see average home insurance premiums rise
by 17 percent.
. . .
Ok ... "insurance" is a biz EQUATION. The
numbers either work out, or NOT.
For parts of Cal, they DON'T work out
anymore.
50 years ago the USA was in strong GROWTH.
That's NOT how it is anymore. What made sense
for insurers THEN ... no longer valid.
HOWEVER ... 'insurance' IS vital for a LOT
of stuff. Can't get a mortgage/loan on the
property is un-insurable. It's gonna take
quite awhile for that to change.
Note, where I live ... CAN'T get insurance
any more. It's all TOO old, in TOO much
disrepair, TOO low to the flood line.
It's actually cheaper to rebuild all new
from scratch than to enrich an insurer.
This is NOT GOOD ... but, for mentioned
reasons ... gonna be kind of The Norm for
the immediate future.
Would kinda LIKE a 'generous' 2/2 with
basically no wood and a good foot higher.
On pilings ? Expensive, at this exact moment,
but maybe WORTH it long term. NOT sure where
I'd stay during construction though. Pre-fab
WOULD go up a LOT faster .........
Pilings ... a good 24 inch or so under for
all the pipes and stuff WOULD be great !
Talking a 100-year property there.
