Yep, just a movie ... but I don't think we
are THAT far from it.
Modern "AI" ... it is now permeating everything,
even 'video games'. Humans don't even know for
sure HOW it works at the fine level anymore.
The movie theme ... typical popular "shooter"
video game - with kinda 'AI' background characters
who, in their limited fashion, seem to THINK they
are living Normal Life. However SOMETHING triggers
one character, an inbuilt obsession plus suddenly
more/bigger info - and it rapidly grows to become
essentially 'real'.
Modern "AI" - yea, it can ... indeed WILL ... happen.
Hey, we're talking "AI" where corps are trying to
buy nuclear power plants for the energy now.
Movie ... it all ran on about a dozen, probably
Linux, servers. REAL world it's gonna be a LOT
more than that.
An amazing amount of effort goes into creating
believable alt-worlds for 'entertainment'. It's
often the Best Stuff out there.
So, yea, I don't see why a proper self-aware
"AI" fueled personality would not develop in
that environment. "Blue-Shirt Guy" could be
very REAL in 10-25 years fer sure.
So ... how do we DEAL with that ? Instant
panic deletion - or proper respect ???
