school bond issues in city after city that
would tax themselves to improve their public
schools. To the dismay of the "starve the

Speaking from the podium at Mayor Jean Stothert’s
campaign party on Tuesday night, Gov. Jim Pillen
told Republicans that they “just didn’t get the
vote out.”

He said Stothert’s re-election should have been a
“slam-dunk,” and that GOP voters — particularly in
West Omaha — need to look in the mirror.
