The most active volcano in the Pacific Northwest could erupt
'any day now,' scientists have warn.

The Axial Seamount is a mile-wide underwater volcano that sits
300 miles off the coast of Oregon and more than 4,900 feet below
the surface of the Pacific Ocean.

It last erupted in 2015, triggering roughly 8,000 earthquakes,
producing 400-foot-thick lava flows and causing the bottom of
the ocean to sink nearly eight feet.

Scientists monitoring this volcano have detected a key sign
that it is about to erupt: inflation of the seafloor.

This swelling indicates that magma is building up beneath
    the surface.

    . . .

The one near Anchorage keeps building too ... more
    and stronger quakes. Anytime now.

The whole "rim of fire" (no, nothing to do with
queer fetishes) has been more active the past
five years. Even Cal has been getting more quakes.

I'm really not worried about any of them. Yellowstone is another
    matter.

I read a book, "Death From the Skies....." from a physicist whom I
saw on an old Discovery Channel show. Asteroids, cosmic rays, pulsars,
a red giant Sol, magnetic poles going away, ....

Then another book "Alone in the Universe" discuessing all the things that
have to happen to create a technological civilization in the Universe, and
how this greatly reduces that probability. And of course the killers in
    the book mentioned above.

    Very uplifting!

Depends if it can generate a tsunami. A plate boundary offshore
snaps from time sending tsunamis with little warning from British
    Columbia to northern California.

The Yellowstone hot spot moves northeast. Someday it will be
Minnesota's hot spot. When our species is extinct and our
successor species can watch from the Moon.
