Wasn't IN "the hangar" - was on the deck.
That's how it fell off.

A fighter jet has been "lost at sea" after it fell overboard from an
aircraft carrier in the Red Sea while it was being towed on the hangar
deck, the U.S. Navy said.
The F/A-18E Super Hornet fell off the USS Harry S. Truman April 28 as
sailors towed the aircraft into the hangar bay, according to the Navy.
The crew had lost control of the jet, which fell into the Red Sea along
with the tow tractor.
USN hangar decks are open to the sea.

A deck is not a "hanger" - sounds like something
got mangled in translation.

If so, not very bright. Salt mist is bad for
machines.
In any case, they dropped or pushed the thing
into the ocean. Who gets the bill ?

It also says the ship was executing a "sharp
turn" to evade a Houthi attack.

It is a flat place run near full length and breadth of the ship--a deck.
It is called the hangar, hangar bay, and hanger deck.

The hangar deck has interior doors that break airflow, contain fires,
etc. Some navies use closed hangars. USN uses open hangars and has the experience to make them work.
